The Camper Code of Conduct
Camp Sunshine Dreams desires to help develop the character of young people. The character and conduct of our youth reflect the character and conduct of society; therefore, we believe our adult leaders have the responsibility to teach and model the core ethical values and to promote the development of good character.
These core values are the foundation of our program. They will be integrated into activities and discussed as required in times of discipline. The six pillars of character that Camp Sunshine Dreams promotes and models are:
- Trustworthiness
Be honest; be reliable by doing what you say you will do; have the courage to do the right thing; be loyal to family, friends, camp and country.
- Respect
Treat others with respect by applying the Golden Rule (Do unto others as you want others to do unto you.) Use good manners and not bad language; be tolerant of differences and considerate of the feelings of others; don't threaten, hurt, or harm anyone; deal peacefully with anger, insults or disagreements.
- Responsibility
Do what you are supposed to do; persevere; keep on trying; always do your best; use self-control; think before you act and consider the consequences; be accountable for the choices you make.
- Fairness
Play by the rules; take turns and share; listen to others with an open mind; don't take advantage of others; don't blame others carelessly.
- Caring
Be kind; be compassionate and show that you care, by your actions and your words; express thanks; forgive others; help people in need.
- Citizenship
Do your share to make camp and your community better; cooperate; be a good neighbor; obey laws and rules; be informed about your community; respect authority; protect the environment.
